  Here are a few extensions I recommend (copied from my own list of extensions that I find useful):

  • I like Add Bookmark Here, which adds an similarly titled menu item to every submenu in the Bookmarks menu enabling easy bookmarking in any folder.

  • Then there’s Uppity, which adds an “Up” toolbar button that can be added to the navigation toolbar (and optionally the status bar, too), and makes navigating up a website’s directory structure as easy as clicking the button or pressing Alt-Up (Option-Up on Macs).

  • Finally, Tabs Menu adds, appropriately enough, a Tabs menu to Firefox’s main menu bar. This simple feature makes navigating the current window’s open tabs much, much easier.

  If you want to format a webpage for printing, you can remove clutter by using these two extensions - Nuke Anything Enhanced and Aardvark. Also, similiar to Paste and Go is Fetch URL. Xinha is WYSIWYG editor for commenting in blogs (its the tool I’m using to post this comment). Also, for bloggers is Performancing for Firefox, a full featured blog editor. Rounding off, I would like to add QuickNote, an extension that adds Opera’s Notes feature.

  You might want to change your link from Adblock to Adblock Plus. Adblock is no longer updated and is completely useless on the new versions of Firefox, afaik.

  Nice Blog,i have a few more extensions of interest,
  Aardvark as said here,to choose what parts of a webpage you want to print and what parts you don’t want to,
  Remove it permanently(R.I.P) to remove parts of a webpage as aardvark does but permanently on a webpage,so you dont see them anymore.The difference of this extension and greasemonkey is that this lets you choose with a right click what parts of a webpage to avoid,without knowing javascript and in an easy way.A good partner for greasemonkey i think.
  easyGestures:Underrated(this is my opinion)on the net,this extension gives you a cute customizable menu(and with some extra options like duplicate tab,zoom in and out,previous site,next site,link to webs,to open external apps,go up on a site etc.)that opens clicking the center button of your mouse(but can be opened with the right button if you choose this in the preferences dialog of the extension).Its a graphic cyrcle menu(as a whell,like the ipod you know).try it ;).

  I just wish they’d fix the Search Web rightclick so that it actually worked right… putting quotes around the selected text so every phrase you search for doesn’t put half the Internet in the results, and every name you search for doesn’t grab every geneology page.

  As far as additional addons go… that long unused blue bar at the top would make a dandy place to put a newsticker, like on the bottom of the screen at FoxNews.

  I never ever want to open a link in a new window, I wish I knew how to drop that option out of the rightclick list…

  Tab X isn’t necessary with the existance of Tab Mix Plus, as TMP allows the addition of the X to each tab, while also removing it from the main Tab Bar.

  I have my ‘X’ set to appear only upon rollover.

  first of all, the tabbrowser preference is broken. you can’t middle click the bookmark into a new tab anymore. i’ve emailed the author and he doesn’t respond. this only applies on brand NEW installs of FF1.5.

  secondly, many users still rely on the ‘favorites’ folder for all their bookmarks and thus far, there hasn’t been a bookmark extension uses the fav folder like IE does. it should be fairly simple to write, if i only had the time! i’d hate to synchronize it everytime i add/remove a bookmark! the closest one is syncmark but 1.5 broke compatibility. i was using it for a while.

  ScreenGrab should only be recommenced for Firefox 1.0.x users who have Java installed.

  Firefox 1.5 users should use Pearl Crescent Page Saver instead.
  It uses the brand new Canvas feature instead of Java to save the viewable portion or the whole page with one mouse click.
  Additionally you can use “firefox -savepng http://www.mozilla.org/” to save a screenshot from the command line.
  Pearl Crescent Page Saver works like a charm and is localized in cs-CZ, de-DE, en-US, es-ES, fr-FR, it-IT, ru-RU, sk-SK and sl-SI.

  Another extension that I really love is Super DragAndGo.
  Its a really great extension that lets you drag a link and automatically open it in a new tab. When you are done, just close the tab with your mouse gestures and you are right back to where you started. Works on images too.

  tab mix plus includes the functionality of Sessionsaver, undoclosetab and Tab X.

  one of my favorite extensions is easyGestures. it’s a mouse gestures extension but it has a gui so it makes it so much easier. i have like 8 different actions defined that i use regularly and about 7 more that i use once in a while. with regular mouse gestures (which i used to use) it is much harder to remember and perform that many actions with the speed and ease of easyGestures. it is also very customizable and lets u launch bookmarks or local programs or custom scripts, lets u transform it into a circular or linear menu with regular, little or no icons. theres a lot more options but u get the idea.

  other extensions i like are:

  enhanced bookmark search
  googlebar lite
  iget (start a download from an address)
  Nuke Anything Enhanced
  popup alt attribute (like in ie)

  I guess Youlicit Firefox extension can fall under “Control Web Searches”. It’s a great tool for finding similar websites based on the one you’re on. You can save your findings as well just like Del.icio.us, but Youlicit takes to the next level by providing you relevant websites so you won’t have to search as much. I find myself using Youlicit at least twice a day to find something that I want to sort through in Google results. I’m sick of Google’s outdated results, to be honest.

  FasterFox is a damaging addon for a few reaons.
  It words by downloading data from links on the page you are browsing. That can include links which will perform actions, such as posting on forums or purchasing items (this will not usually occur in a well coded site, but it has been reported to happen).
  It also loads content from people’s website continually, and becomes hugely expensive to the website owner due to the amount of bandwidth being used.

  I would probably be a good idea to remove it from the list.

  - extract data tables such as the CNN or Forbes’ rankings and export them into a pretty Excel spreadsheet,

  TopicInsight is a new cool search helper addon. I really recommend it. Very easy to find related web pages. I mean not only similar pages, but other ones too. Even those ones you’d never find the other way. It is still in the sandbox, but I had a chance to try it. It’s actually very useful.

  FireGestures… best mouse gestures extension imho. Combined with autoHideStatusbar and Stumble, you can have a really neat fullscreen surfing experience. (You can use FireGestures to open tabs, cycle between them, close them, open Google or any webpage, save bookmarks, etc… You can even a custom script to ’stumble’ with a single flick of the mouse!).

  Instead of Stealther, I use Distrust. I don’t know if stealther works okay, but Distrust works very well. You click the distrust ‘eye’, and nothing get’s saved anymore, till you click it again, and then you are returned to the web site which you were visiting before (when your boss/teacher comes in xD)

  I use faves to save (one link at a time) link and post a quick note about it that I can retrieve from another computer later. Linkwad or Galleropa is for saving multiple tabs. Faves has a more active user group than mogda, yoono, etc.
  ScribeFire/Performancing is excellent for research notes, but unless one has set up a blog, confined to one computter.
